Biography
Simon P. Castonguay, also known professionally as Simon Leoza and Tambour, composes neoclassical music from his base in Montreal. His introspective approach blends ambient pop textures, electronic minimalism, and post-rock dynamics. Lacking formal instruction, this intuitive artist first surfaced in the early 2010s via the Tambour alias, achieving recognition simultaneously in production and performance roles. After launching with the 2015 EP Chapitre I, he continued releasing atmospheric singles and EPs such as Chapitre II in 2016 and Constellations (ou comment arrêter le temps) in 2019; these works accumulated millions of streams and drew praise across Canada and internationally. Over the same span he secured two SOCAN Foundation Awards for Emerging Screen Composers plus a Félix for his streamed performance at La Maison Symphonique de Montréal. In 2021 Castonguay presented Albatross, an evocative and oneiric full-length debut issued under the Simon Leoza name.
