Biography
Formed in Australia amid the mid-1980s, Single Gun Theory emerged from the combined efforts of Jacqui Hunt, Kath Power, and Pete Rivett-Carnac. The group’s atmospheric approach echoed the ethereal qualities of Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, and Bel Canto, female-fronted alternative acts marked by strong new age leanings. Their debut album, Exorcise This Wasteland, first appeared on home soil in 1987. That same year the trio secured a contract with the Canadian imprint Nettwerk, which put out the record that November. Four years of careful preparation preceded the 1991 release of Millions Like Stars in My Hand, Darkly Shining. One further Nettwerk effort, Burning Bright (But Unseen), followed before the band moved to IRS for the 1994 album Flow, River of My Soul.
