Taiwanese sextet Sodagreen crafts breezy indie rock that shifts between high-energy anthems and emotionally charged ballads. Established in 2001, the ensemble quickly became a fixture across the Mandarin-language circuit, issuing a consistent series of recordings that began with their self-titled 2005 debut. Anchored by the singular voice of frontman Greeny Wu Qing-Feng, the lineup—Claire Hsieh Shin-Yi, Kay Liu Jia-Kai, Wei Shih Jun-Wei, “A Fu” Ho Jing-Yang, and “A Gong” Kung Yu-Chi—issued Little Universe in 2006 and Incomparable Beauty in 2007, securing consecutive Best Band honors at Taiwan’s Golden Melody Awards. Daylight of Spring arrived in 2009 as the opening installment of their four-part “Vivaldi Project,” an endeavor meant to traverse all seasons; the cycle reached completion in 2015 with Summer/Fever, Autumn: Stories, and Winter Endless. At the 2016 Golden Melody Awards the group swept multiple categories, claiming Best Mandarin Album, Band, Lyricist, Album Producer, and Musical Arrangement before declaring an indefinite hiatus.

Their 2020 reemergence occurred under the altered moniker Oaeen, a nod to the syllabic endings of “So-da-green,” prompted by a trademark conflict with their prior producer. The new identity yielded the 2021 album Strange Pool, after which the band launched “Sodagreen’s Version,” a re-recording initiative that commenced in 2022 with a fresh take on their debut, augmented by several newly written songs. Little Universe received the same treatment later that year, followed in 2023 by Incomparable Beauty and the 2008 release sodagreen sing with me. In February they confirmed retrieval of the Sodagreen name, even though their former label retained ownership of the original masters. The reclamation continued into 2024 with new versions of Once in a Lifetime (2010), What Is Troubling You (2011), and Daylight of Spring.
