Biography
In 2005 the dream pop ensemble Soundpool assembled in New York City, its core lineup consisting of Kim Field, John Ceparano, Mark Robinson, and James Renard together with a succession of bassists that encompassed Ben Malkin, Rich Bennett, Dean McCormick, and Andy Durutti. The band’s reverb-drenched aesthetic drew primary inspiration from foundational acts such as My Bloody Valentine and Lush. Aloft Records issued the group’s debut album, On High, the next year. Early 2008 saw the arrival of their second full-length, Dichotomies & Dreamland. Following a label change to Killer Pimp and the addition of Sanford Santacroce on bass, Soundpool delivered the dance-music-and-disco-inflected Mirrors in Your Eyes in spring 2010.
