Stacy Dean Campbell’s earliest motivation to pursue music came from his father Buddy, who sang gospel. Growing up under the care of his grandparents in Carlsbad, NM, the future singer/songwriter developed a deep admiration for Marty Robbins, whose velvety vocal phrasing later informed Campbell’s own delivery. His brother Spencer, already working as a professional musician, urged him to relocate to Nashville in search of a country career, and he soon secured a songwriting agreement with Tree Music. The debut solo album Lonesome Wins Again arrived in 1992, with the wide-ranging follow-up Hurt City surfacing in 1995.
