Born July 5, 1985, in Malvern, Australia, Stephanie McIntosh entered a household already steeped in entertainment when her mother Sue previously anchored ABC News and her half-brother Jason Donovan shared the Neighbours set with her before carving out his own recording career with Stock, Aitken & Waterman, including the 1989 duet “Especially for You” alongside former co-star Kylie Minogue. Childhood modeling work soon gave way to acting parts on the series The Legacy of the Silver Shadow and in the Olivia Newton-John vehicle The Wilde Girls. She arrived on Neighbours in 2003, assuming the role of troubled teen Sky Mangel from Miranda Fryer and quickly becoming a viewer favorite. That momentum translated into a 2006 reality vehicle titled The Steph Show, a Network Ten primetime series that chronicled the making of her debut album, Tightrope, which reached stores the day after the July 28 premiere. Lead single “Mistake” climbed to number three on the Australian charts, although a troubled appearance on The AFL Footy Show prompted widespread doubts about her vocal talent. Tightrope still achieved gold status, and the title track later delivered a Top 20 hit.
