Sticks

Hailing from Zwolle in The Netherlands, Dutch rapper Junte Uiterwijk, who performs as Sticks or Sticky Steez, first gained attention through his membership in Opgezwolle alongside Phreako Rico and Delic, the latter also known as Dippy Delic. Linked to the established rap imprint Top Notch, the trio released Spuugdingen op de Mic in 2001, followed by Vloeistof in 2003 and Eigen Wereld in 2006, the last of which reached the Top Five on the Dutch albums chart. Sticks further contributed to the 2002 supergroup project Opgeduveld, which united Opgezwolle with Duvel, Supahdupah, and Rein de Vos. His own debut arrived in 2004 with Microphone Colossus, a full-length collaboration alongside producer Kubus. The 2007 release Fakkelteit, another partnership with Delic, capitalized on the momentum from Eigen Wereld and likewise entered the Top Ten. After Opgezwolle disbanded in 2007, Sticks assembled FakkelBrigade, bringing together Phreako Rico, Typhoon, James, and producer A.R.T. The crew’s first album, Colucci Era, appeared in 2009 and again landed in the Top Ten, matching the chart performance of his third solo effort, Alledaagse Waanzin, issued in 2010 in tandem with A.R.T.
