Biography
Stretch Princess, an indie pop group, unites three musicians from the United Kingdom whose paths into music diverged sharply from the start. Jo Lloyd, who sings and plays bass, carries Irish and Welsh roots and first developed her abilities on piano. David Magee, the drummer, took up saxophone at age nine yet turned to a drum kit bought by his grandfather once he reached his teens. James Wright, the guitarist, passed his early years across Europe and Australia before striking his initial chord at age four. As an adult he performed in Perth pubs but sought a larger setting, returning to London where the band formed in 1996. An invitation to CMJ the next year ended their London period shortly afterward. Now operating from New York, the group issued its self-titled debut in fall 2000, with Fun with Humans following two years later.
