Biography
Having led the influential Brit-pop pair the Vaselines as its guitarist across multiple years, Frances McKee launched Suckle in 1997. Joining her as co-founder and vocalist was Marie McKee, and the group completed its roster later that year with Vicky Morton on bass, Elanor Taylor handling flute and keyboards, Kenny McEwan on drums, and Brian McEwan on guitar, all ahead of issuing their self-titled debut EP. Bringing a blend of melancholy indie pop to their native Scotland, the band saw Detox Records issue the Hormonal Secretions EP the same year after their initial 7". In 1998 Suckle entered an agreement with Chemikal Underground Records, which went on to finance their first self-titled full-length.
