Biography
A native of Roswell, New Mexico, Susan Graham ranked among the leading American opera performers at the dawn of the twenty-first century. Her formal preparation began at Texas Tech University before she continued her studies at the Manhattan School of Music. After winning the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, she made her first appearance on that stage in 1991. Through successive engagements she gradually advanced, culminating in an acclaimed 1999-2000 season that featured three principal roles alongside several supporting parts. She then embarked on an international tour that brought performances to venues throughout Europe and Canada. In the following season she took part in several operas as well as a stage adaptation of Dead Man Walking. Beyond her operatic commitments, she has issued multiple recordings that encompass both ensemble cast albums and individual recital discs.
