Tom Casswell operates under the alias TC as a drum'n'bass producer, DJ, and vocalist, and he also records as Tommy Boy. His upbringing in Bristol, U.K., steered him toward the area's deep musical roots, leading him to draw from Roni Size, LTJ Bukem, and Massive Attack while shaping his own jazz-inflected strain of classic drum'n'bass. The 2002 release Resonator marked his debut on Davide Carbone's BS1 Records and gave way the next year to Getcha Some More. That output caught the ear of Dillinja and Lemon D, who placed the subsequent track Jamaica Street on their Valve Recordings offshoot Beatz in 2004, before issuing the Let's Go single on the primary Valve label in 2005.

His personalized approach to the drum'n'bass sound fostered a collaboration with fellow Bristolians Distorted Minds, prompting releases on their D-Style Recordings starting in 2005 along with remixes for Adam F and DJ Hype. A series of 12" records across 2006 and 2007 cleared the path for the first album, Evolution, whose positive reception thrust Casswell forward and triggered a run of further 12" singles throughout 2008. Remix commissions followed for Sean Paul, Example, Tinie Tempah, Nas, and Rihanna. After withdrawing from view, Casswell resurfaced in 2011 by founding his own Don't Play label, which carried the drum'n'bass anthem Tap Ho and introduced his initial dubstep effort, Concrete.

While dividing time among DJing, production, and remixes, he supplied vocals for fellow drum'n'bass artist Sub Focus after previously working with the producer on his 2009 self-titled album. That same year, TC released the single Get Down Low on Skrillex's OWSLA label. In 2014, DJ Fresh reworked an unreleased TC track, added vocals from Little Nikki, and delivered the single Make U Bounce, which climbed into the U.K. Top Ten.
