Tee-Set, whose lineup included Peter Tetteroo on vocals, Dill Dennink on guitar, flute, and banjo, Joop Bloom on drums, Franklin Madjid on bass, and Hans Van Eijck on keyboards, ranked among the few Dutch acts to reach the American charts during the late 1960s. Fellow countrymen the Shocking Blue with "Venus" and the George Baker Selection with "Little Green Bag" also succeeded stateside, and both acts shared the same U.S. representative, Jerry Ross. The group cut the agreeable pop/rock number "Ma Belle Amie" in 1969 and released it initially in Holland, where sales quickly reached 100,000 units—a notable achievement given the compact size of the Dutch market. Ross discovered the track, secured the American rights, and issued it in the States, where it stood as Tee-Set's sole major success.
