Biography
The band the Adventures formed in London around the core of singer Terry Sharpe and guitarist Pat Gribben, who had earlier played with Belfast’s Starjets. Completing the lineup were vocalist Eileen Gribben, guitarist Gerard “Spud” Murphy, bassist Tony Ayre, and drummer Pat Crowder. After signing with Chrysalis, the group issued its self-titled debut album in 1984, although Theodore & Friends amounted only to a repackaged edition aimed at American listeners. Four more years passed before any real commercial traction appeared, and that came only after the move to Elektra Records. Their 1988 album Sea of Love included the modest hit “Broken Land,” yet produced little beyond that single track. Trading Secrets with the Moon followed the next year, after which the Adventures slipped into obscurity.
