Biography
Croatian surf rock revivalists the Bambi Molesters came together in 1995. As a tight-knit live unit they cut their debut album, Dumb Loud Hollow Twang, in a mere three hours; shortly after issuing their follow-up, 1999’s Intensity, the group found themselves headlining arenas and supporting the Cramps, Man or Astro-man?, and R.E.M. Their 2001 effort, Sonic Bullets: 13 from the Hip, included contributions from road companions Peter Buck (R.E.M.), Scott McCaughey (Young Fresh Fellows), Speedo Martinez (the Flaming Sideburns), and Chris Eckman (the Walkabouts). In 2004, after re-recording the long-out-of-print Dumb Loud Hollow Twang as Dumb Loud Hollow Twang-Deluxe, the band began working with Chris Eckman on a separate venture they named the Strange. Once that album was finished the Bambi Molesters entered a brief hiatus, only to reconvene in 2009 and begin tracking material for As the Dark Wave Swells, scheduled to appear the following year.
