Biography
The Beguiled drew their spark from the 1977 wave of New York City gutter punks, reaching even further back to Michigan’s MC5 and Stooges, with the members intent on sustaining sleazy rock and roll’s raw pulse through the 1988 arrival of their debut LP Gone Away. Once a two-year hiatus ended—during which each musician journeyed separately across the globe—the group reassembled in 1990, issuing a 7" on Estrus Records three years after that reunion. The 1994 release of second album Blue Dirge was soon followed by guitarist Mike Ball’s death at the hands of a drunk driver, cutting short The Beguiled’s existence.
