Hailing from Sweden, the retro-leaning rock and roll group the Boppers reached their commercial zenith in 1979 via the number-one album Keep on Boppin' and the Top Five single "Back to the Bop." They sustained a respectable level of success across subsequent decades, continuing to register chart entries well into the following century. Established in 1977 in Hässelby, Sweden, the lineup consists of Ingemar Wallén, Ville Wallén, Peter Jezewski, Michel Jezewski, Mats Lagerwall, and Lasse Westerberg. The band issued their debut full-length, Number 1, in 1978 and watched it climb to the Top 40 of the Swedish albums chart. Their national breakthrough arrived the next year when Keep on Boppin' ascended to the top spot roughly six months after "Back to the Bop" had entered the Top Five. Such was their popularity in 1979 that the seasonal novelty release "White Christmas" came close to cracking the Top Ten. Although their third album, Fan Pix (1980), also performed strongly by reaching the Top Ten, the follow-ups Special Selection (1981), News (1982), High Fidelity (1982), and Black Label (1983) reflected a steep decline in sales. As a result, almost ten years elapsed before they returned with the well-received comeback set The Boppers (1991), which peaked inside the Top Five. Its successor, Unplugged Favourites (1992), likewise fared well, landing in the Top Ten. Thereafter the members periodically reconvened to issue new recordings, the strongest sellers being the Top Five entry 25 Years Still Boppin' (2002) and the Top Ten album Vibrations (2009).
