In the latter half of the 1990s, alt-country songstresses Neko Case and Carolyn Mark joined forces intermittently to perform and record under the name the Corn Sisters. Their energetic, spontaneous appearances at CMJ and New Music West, plus one show opening for Richard Buckner, directly led to the Corn Sisters' debut album The Other Women in 2000, a release that documented a night at Seattle's Hattie's Hat.
