In 1984, the Firm formed as a hard rock supergroup that brought together Jimmy Page, the former Led Zeppelin guitarist, and Paul Rodgers, who had previously fronted both Free and Bad Company. Bassist Tony Franklin and Chris Slade, the ex-Uriah Heep drummer, rounded out the roster. Atlantic issued the band's self-titled debut the following year, and it climbed into the Top 20 propelled by the hit single "Radioactive." Even so, the album registered only modest influence relative to the stature of Page and Rodgers, while the group's single tour drew a similarly muted response. Following the 1986 release of their second and final LP, Mean Business, the Firm disbanded. Page and Rodgers each returned to solo careers, Franklin later joined Blue Murder, and Slade became a member of AC/DC.
