Biography
Punk rock outfit the Heart Attacks burst onto the scene from Atlanta, GA, during the final months of 2003, fueled by raw bravado, unfiltered swagger, and a volatile stage presence matched by their explosive material. The lineup—vocalist Chase Noles, lead guitarist Tuk, rhythm guitarist Dave, bassist Paulie, and drummer Brad—drew primary inspiration from the Dead Boys, the Heartbreakers, the New York Dolls, and D Generation, while incorporating elements of 1950s rock aesthetics. In July 2005 the band issued Heart and Scissor Killers through Brand Name Records, fully intending to secure a slot on that summer’s Warped Tour. When the opportunity evaporated, the group refused to be deterred and instead trailed the festival across multiple cities, operating an unlicensed pirate bar in venue parking lots to peddle drinks. The lack of age verification left ample room for connections, leading to an impromptu encounter with Rancid’s Tim Armstrong at one of their makeshift stands. Handing him a CD proved pivotal; weeks afterward, Armstrong contacted the band about recording for his Hellcat imprint. The ensuing garage-punk effort Hellbound and Heartless, helmed by producer Lars Frederiksen, appeared in October 2006.
