The Hipwaders

California pop/rock trio the Hipwaders bill themselves as creators of “hip music for kids.” The lineup consists of Tito Uquillas on vocals, guitar, mandolin, and keyboard; Chris Blubaugh on vocals and bass; and Nick Baca on vocals and drums. Uquillas and Blubaugh first joined forces in the early ’90s after an introduction at their shared workplace. Parenthood later reshaped their creative focus, prompting them to tailor both sound and subject matter to children and the adults raising them. Their catalog has received Parents Choice Awards, and the group secured a performance slot on the children’s stage at Lollapalooza in Chicago in 2007.
