The Korgis, a British pop outfit, brought together singer and bassist James Warren with singer and drummer Andy Davis, who had earlier worked together in cult favorites Stackridge. Guitarist Stuart Gordon and keyboardist Phil Harrison rounded out the original lineup, which released its first single, "Young 'n' Russian," during March 1979. The follow-up single "If I Had You" reached the UK Top 20, and that summer the band delivered its self-titled debut LP. Their biggest commercial breakthrough arrived in 1980 with "Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime," the lead single from the sophomore album Dumb Waiters, which also yielded the minor hit "If It's Alright with You Baby." Later releases such as "Rovers Return," "That Was My Big Mistake," and "All the Love in the World" attracted little attention, and after the third album Sticky George appeared in 1981 the group was dropped by Rialto. The Korgis disbanded soon afterward. Warren issued the solo LP Burning Questions in 1986, then reunited with Davis four years later to record a new version of "Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime," an effort followed in 1992 by the album This World's for Everyone. The band parted ways again shortly after that.
