Biography
During the closing years of the 1960s, the Latinaires emerged from Southview’s Bronx neighborhood as one among many youthful Latin ensembles shaping the boogaloo sound. Their saxophone-focused lineup, set apart from the era’s typical brass emphasis, yielded the 1968 release Camel Walk on the Fania label. The ensemble followed with Like It Is on Cotique two years afterward, only to disband soon thereafter.
