Biography
After departing Ike Turner's organization to pursue independent recordings, the 1964-1966 lineup of the Ikettes -- Robbie Montgomery, Vanetta Fields, and Jessie Smith -- adopted the name the Mirettes for sessions with Revue. Their version of "In the Midnight Hour" fell just short of the Top 40 in 1968, after which Revue issued an LP of the same title later that year. Additional covers such as "On the Good Ship Lollipop" and the Spencer Davis Group's "Keep on Running" likewise failed to register on the charts. A second album, 1969's Whirlpool, appeared on the UNI label.
