Biography
Belgian duo Neon Judgement [sic] shifted between spare industrial textures and quirky synth-driven pop and dance tracks built on stark, machine-like beats. Keyboardist/vocalist Dirk Da Davo and guitarist/vocalist T.B. Frank formed the group, which issued the bulk of its material on Belgium’s Play It Again Sam label starting with the 1986 album Mafu Cage. Although the pair had already begun tracking songs in 1981—an early period captured on the 1989 anthology General Pain and Major Disease—their initial U.S. appearance arrived only in 1987 via the sex-themed concept release Horny As Hell. Later efforts comprised Blood and Thunder (1989), The Insult (1990), and Are You Real (1992). After pausing for three years to reconsider their musical path, the duo resurfaced in 1995 with At Devil’s Fork, an album cut entirely in a forest setting alongside percussionist Ben Forceville.
