Biography
Emerging from Macon, Georgia, the ensemble took shape under the guidance of Otis Redding’s sons, who enlisted their cousin Mark Locket to handle keyboards and drums. Vocalist and bassist Dexter joined forces with guitarist Otis Redding III and Locket to release the 1980 album The Awakening on Believe in Dreams/Columbia, later following up with a pair of Polydor projects: If Looks Could Kill in 1985 and The Reddings in 1988. The group scored its most successful single with “Remote Control,” which reached the number six position on the R&B chart that same year.
