Biography
In the latter half of the 1980s the Rose brothers—Bobby, Greg, Larry and Kenny—cut multiple singles and LPs for the Muscle Shoals Sound imprint, a Malaco subsidiary. Their recordings followed a vintage Southern soul template and carried the same raw authenticity found on the strongest releases of the era. Those traits, however, restricted the group to regional obscurity, even though the debut single “I Get Off On You” climbed to number 28 on the R&B charts in 1986. “Easy Lover” reached 29 the same year, yet the quartet could not overcome prevailing resistance to material lacking urban or coastal credentials.
