Biography
Martin Kaiser and Tommy Yamaha form a German duo hailing from Nuremberg. Their music fuses 70s funk with 80s electro, a combination the UK’s DJ magazine characterized as the missing link between Basement Jaxx and Daft Punk. Initially released in limited quantities on the duo’s Nuax label in 1998, Selected Funks reached a wide array of DJs including ‘Tall’ Paul Newman, C.J. Bolland and Slam. London-based Wall Of Sound subsequently acquired the album, issuing a complete UK version that incorporated additional tracks during August 1998. Funky slap-bass, powerhouse percussion and epic synthesizer lines combined to create the record’s distinctive sonic mixture.
