The Winston Brothers

Emerging from Hamburg, Germany, The Winston Brothers function as an intense modular studio operation that masquerades as an instrumental funk ensemble. The project originated with producers, composers, and multi-instrumentalists Lucas Kochbeck of the KBCS and Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band, together with Sebastian Nagel of the Mighty Mocambos and Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band, both seasoned professionals who favor analog methods and enlist a steady circle of longtime associates and musical partners for their sessions. Their approach fuses the core language of vintage funk with textures drawn from cop and Blaxploitation film scores, neo psych, and soul-jazz, all framed by prominent breaks inside fluidly shifting arrangements. Colemine Records released their opening single, "Winston Theme," in April 2021. Drift, their first eleven-track album, followed in November 2022.
