Biography
One of the stranger, more delightful modern incarnations of a '60s British invasion outfit, Thee Headcoats Sect assembles five players drawn from two earlier groups. Don Craine on guitar and vocals joins Keith "Grant" Evans on bass and vocals, both formerly of the Downliners Sect, while Billy Childish takes lead guitar, Bruce Brand handles drums, and Johnny Johnson plays harmonica, all three coming from the 1990s retro rock & roll band Thee Headcoats. Their performances uncannily recapture the sound of the original Downliners Sect by delivering the same distinctive, very rude early-'60s style R&B. The ensemble recorded two albums during the late '90s.
