Biography
Thought Gang serves as the joint alias adopted by veteran partners David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti. After scoring Lynch's Blue Velvet, the composer renewed his partnership with the filmmaker for the television series Twin Peaks. Around the period they started developing the feature Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, Badalamenti and Lynch established an exclusively musical venture under the name Thought Gang. The pieces they assembled during the early '90s diverged sharply from the cool jazz that defined Twin Peaks, embracing instead a markedly experimental and cryptic direction. A pair of those recordings later appeared on the Fire Walk with Me soundtrack, while the remaining tracks stayed shelved for decades. In 2018 Thought Gang finally revived the long-dormant project, issuing their self-titled debut album via Sacred Bones.
