Originating from Aarhus, Denmark, where a thriving club environment prevails, Torben Frederiksen launched his output as Toby Green near the start of the 2010s. He began with a 2011 rework of Danish pop star Sisse Marie’s “Dirty Hands,” followed shortly by versions of material from Welker and Faustix. Singles soon appeared on imprints such as Spinnin’ Records and disco:wax through partnerships with Mike Hawkins and Merk & Kremont. Hardwell, Sander van Doorn, and Don Diablo each placed Toby Green productions on their own labels after taking notice. Characterized by uplifting melodies, siren-like synths, and electronically altered vocals, the 2015 release “Move” and the 2016 rave homage “Everytime” accumulated millions of streams. Additional solo efforts such as “Flicker” and “Lift Me Up” followed, while remixes were completed for Pegboard Nerds, Nicky Romero, Maggie Rogers, and further artists. Green contributed to Dutch producer Sam Feldt’s 2017 album Sunrise by co-producing the track “Chasing After You.” The year 2018 brought “Beyond Mars,” featuring Kris Kiss, on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records and “Ready” on Tiësto’s Musical Freedom Records.
