Tone, younger sister to John Norum, the guitarist formerly with Europe, made her recording debut in 1986 via the album One Of A Kind. Joey Tempest, also of Europe, joined forces with her brother to write, arrange, and perform on the project, resulting in a melodic pop-metal sound dotted with power ballads that echoed her sibling’s band. This Time adhered to much the same approach yet brought in session players along with the Billy Steinberg/Tom Kelly songwriting duo, previously responsible for hits by Madonna and Whitney Houston, yielding a glossy melodic-rock effort reminiscent of Heart and Starship. With Red, Tone shifted direction from AOR toward folk rock.
