Biography
Town of Saints emerged in 2010 as a European indie folk band when Dutch singer and guitarist Harmen Ridderbos joined forces with Finnish violinist and singer Heta Salkolahti after the two first met in Austria and immediately started busking as a duo. The pair soon crisscrossed the continent on tour, steadily building an audience through a succession of self-released EPs. Their debut full-length, Something to Fight With, arrived in 2013 on the Dutch indie label Snowstar Records, merging shimmering electric guitar and drums with fiddle, acoustic guitar, and piano to produce a fervent collection that recalled the work of early Mumford & Sons and Noah and the Whale. Continued European live dates prompted the band to enlarge both its sound and its roster by recruiting guitarist Berend Rombouts, bass player Jukka Kiviniemi, and drummer Jesse Bosman. Their second album, No Place Like This—the first recorded as a quintet—was slated for release on Snowstar and Universal in the spring of 2016.
