Biography
The soul blues trio Trampled Under Foot brings together siblings Danielle Schnebelen on lead vocals and bass, Nick Schnebelen on guitars and vocals, and Kris Schnebelen on drums. Raised amid the blues in Kansas City, the three absorbed the music early through their father Bill, a guitarist who performed with Little Eva and regularly brought his children along to jam sessions. Over the years each pursued separate paths, with Danielle performing in Fresh Brew from 1999 to 2004, Kris becoming a regular presence at local blues clubs, and Nick playing in Killing Floor (also known as K-Floor) before a short stint with Buddahead. Longing for the closeness they once shared, the siblings launched Trampled Under Foot in 2000. The group put out four releases in quick succession—Trampled Under Foot in 2006, May I Be Excused in 2008, Wrong Side of the Blues in 2011, and the live recording Live at the Notodden Blues Festival in 2010—while maintaining a relentless touring schedule. That body of work drew the notice of Telarc, the jazz and blues imprint, which signed the band in 2013 and released its fifth studio album, Badlands, the same year.
