Blues singer and songwriter Laurence Jones first grasped a guitar at age 12. Growing up in Stratford-upon-Avon, he benefited from his father’s insistence on daily practice sessions exceeding two hours, which propelled him toward a professional recording career by age 19. In 2012 he signed with Promise Records and issued his debut album, Thunder in the Sky. Around the same period he received a diagnosis of Crohn’s disease, yet he pressed ahead without interruption. The following year he took the support slot on Walter Trout’s 2013 U.K. tour.

Shortly afterward Jones moved to Ruf Records and, in 2014, delivered his sophomore album, Temptation. That release earned him the Young Artist of the Year trophy at the British Blues Awards. He continued without pause, unveiling his third studio album, What’s It Gonna Be, in 2015 and issuing his fourth, Take Me High, the next year. The latter featured the production work of acclaimed veteran Mike Vernon, whose past credits include David Bowie and Eric Clapton. Throughout the balance of 2016 Jones maintained a busy touring schedule that included multiple European blues festivals. He resurfaced in 2017 with the full-length release The Truth.
