Formed in 1985 in the Czech Republic, the punk rock outfit Tri Sestry—whose name means Three Sisters in English and also refers to a Russian river—issued close to twenty albums across its history. One of the scant few punk ensembles worldwide to operate with eight members, the group included an accordionist, an instrument fitting for a rock unit from that region. Its debut full-length, Na Kovarne, To Je Narez, appeared in 1990. Fronted by vocalist and lyricist Lou Hagen, Tri Sestry cultivated a substantial audience throughout Eastern Europe and delivered the album Mydlovary in 2007, which climbed to number two on the Czech charts.
