Urochromes channel a frantic, confrontational strain of drum machine-fueled punk that deliberately ignores conventional genre expectations. Their brief, blistering tracks alternate between menacing and absurd while channeling raw existential discontent alongside sharp wit. After issuing multiple EPs and live documents, the band delivered its first full-length studio effort, Trope House, in 2019.

Guitarist Dick Riddick and the hyperkinetic vocalist Jackie Boy—real name Jack McDermott, who also performs with Sediment Club—launched the project in Western Massachusetts during 2015. That same year saw the cassette Get in Line 4 Mental Decline, whose tracks largely reappeared on the self-titled 7" the group put out the following year. The pair, augmented by rotating players, took the songs across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Feeding Tube Records issued the 2016 LP Anthology, which mixed live and studio material, while a WFMU session from Jersey City occupied one half of a split LP alongside Wizzard Sleeve. Shout Recordings released the cassette EP The Beat Sessions in 2017, later reissued as a 7" by Drunken Sailor; Wharf Cat put out the Night Bully EP, featuring remixes by Boy Harsher. Two years afterward, the same label issued Trope House, the band’s debut studio album, which contained covers of material by the Lemonheads and Bikini Kill.
