Vittor Santos

Vittor Santos, a trombonist who acquired his skills without formal training, stands out as a key figure in Brazilian big band jazz. He contributed as a sideman to Ivan Lins, Leny Andrade, Antônio Adolfo, Chico Buarque, Alceu Valença, Moraes Moreira, Carlinhos Vergueiro, Zizi Possi, and Beth Carvalho. In 1985 Santos launched the Vittor Santos Orquestra, a jazz big band that continued until 1992 and issued the album Um Toque Tropical. The following year he assembled another large ensemble, the In Concert orchestra. The Vittor Santos Orquestra reassembled in 1998 and appeared at the Free Jazz Festival in 1999.
