Biography
Emerging from Seattle, Washington, the melodic doom outfit Year of the Cobra channels the weighty atmospheres of Jucifer, Helms Alee, Sleep, and Chelsea Wolfe. Anchored by the power duo of bassist/guitarist vocalist Amy Tung Barrysmith and drummer Jon Barrysmith, the project formed in 2015 and quickly issued its debut EP, The Black Sun. That recording drew the interest of STB Records, which enlisted Billy Anderson (Swans, Melvins, Neurosis) to helm the full-length debut, 2016's ...In the Shadows Below. Magnetic Eye Records released the follow-up EP, Burn Your Dead, the next year, and in 2019 the band delivered its second album, Ash and Dust.
