Biography
Danish occult rockers Demon Head fuse doom, goth metal, and psych-infused classic rock into a style they term "diabolic rock." The group first surfaced in 2015 via the raw and untamed Ride the Wilderness, later securing a Metal Blade contract that yielded their fourth album, the atmospheric Viscera, in 2021, before shifting to Svart Records for the 2024 release Through Holes Shine the Stars.
The quintet came together in 2012, built around bassist Mikkel Fuglsang, vocalist Marcus Ferreira Larsen, drummer Jeppe Wittus, and brothers on guitar Birk Gjerlufsen Nielsen and Thor Gjerlufsen Nielsen. Their debut full-length, Ride the Wilderness, surfaced in 2015 as an eight-song, analog-recorded set steeped in 1970s classic rock influences drawn from Pentagram and Witchcraft; initially issued on cassette, the album later reached wider audiences digitally through This Charming Man. Thunder on the Fields followed in 2017, guiding the band into darker explorations of existential themes, while Hellfire Ocean Void arrived in 2019 with a clearer production lens on their signature proto-metal and doomy goth rock blend. After signing with Metal Blade in 2020, the musicians began crafting their expansive fourth album, which emerged the next year as Viscera. In 2023 the group transferred to the Finnish doom metal imprint Svart, where their fifth long-player, Through Holes Shine the Stars, probed further into realms of melodic desperation.
