Biography
Rosalie Cunningham steered her new project Purson toward heightened theatricality beyond the dramatic leanings already present in her earlier group Ipso Facto, framing the ensemble's focus as "vaudeville carny psych." The English outfit probes proto-metal terrain by fusing strands from Cream, Deep Purple, and Jethro Tull into an otherworldly collage of psychedelic textures built around fuzzed-out guitars and Wurlitzer organs. Their first full-length release, the well-received The Circle and the Blue Door, appeared on Metal Blade in 2013. Two years later the band switched to Spinefarm for its follow-up album, Desire's Magic Theatre. Operations ended the next year, after which Cunningham launched a solo career in 2019.
