Spiders

Hailing from Gothenburg's fertile music environment, the Swedish hard rock outfit Spiders delivers an energetic approach untouched by black metal, instead channeling the raw power of late-'70s and early-'80s acts such as Girlschool, Motörhead, and the Australian underground punk band Radio Birdman alongside like-minded retro-rock peers from Scandinavia including Graveyard and Kvelertak. The group coalesced in 2010 with guitarist John Hoyles, formerly of Witchcraft, bassist Olle Griphammar, drummer Richard Harryson, and the magnetic lead vocalist Ann-Sofie Hoyles at its core. In 2011 the quartet released a self-titled debut EP on Crusher Records, then followed it the next year with the full-length Flash Point, which secured a nomination for Swedish Radio's best rock/metal album. Their second studio album, Shake Electric, appeared on Spinefarm in November 2014.
