The Vintage Caravan

Icelandic outfit Vintage Caravan channeled classic rock, early metal, prog, blues, and boogie when the group coalesced in Álftanes during 2006. Guitarist and vocalist Óskar Logi Ágústsson joined forces with drummer Guðjón Reynisson and bassist Alexander Örn Númason to establish the band, yet it did not operate as a fully functioning unit until 2009. From that point the trio cultivated a high-energy live presentation while maintaining a steady schedule of performances and an abundant output of recorded material. Their self-titled debut album appeared in 2011; Voyage followed the next year. Initially issued solely within Iceland, Voyage received broader international exposure through a 2014 re-release on Nuclear Blast, the same label that subsequently put out the band’s third studio album, Arrival, in 2015. Reynisson departed soon after Arrival emerged, yielding his drum chair to Stefán Ari Stefánsson, whose first recording with the group was the 2018 album Gateways.
