Biography
In 1993, the San Francisco stoner rock band Acid King came together. Vocalist and guitarist Lori Crover joined forces with bassist Peter Lucas and drummer Joey Osbourne to begin performing locally alongside similar acts such as the Melvins, Hawkwind, and the Obsessed. Their self-titled debut EP appeared the next year on Sympathy For the Record Industry, followed in 1995 by the full-length Zoroaster. While on the road supporting the album, Lucas exited and was succeeded by Dan Southwick, who also belonged to Altamont, the side project of Melvins drummer (and Lori's husband) Dale Crover. Acid King resurfaced in 1997 with the Down With The Crown EP on Frank Kozik's Man's Ruin label. Southwick returned to Altamont the following year, at which point Brian Hill came aboard on bass; the revised lineup issued Busse Woods in 1999.
