Biography
Cough originated in Richmond, Virginia around 2005, drawing from classic doom acts such as Cathedral and Electric Wizard alongside raw sludge outfits including Eyehategod and Buzzov-en, while also folding in elements of psychedelic and space rock. The lineup of David Cisco on vocals and guitar, Parker Chandler handling vocals and bass, Joseph Arcaro on drums, and later addition Brandon Marcey as second guitarist issued The Kingdom EP in 2007 and the full-length Sigillum Luciferi in 2008, gradually cultivating an audience that led to a deal with Relapse Records and the 2010 release of their second album, Ritual Abuse. That same year brought the split EP An Introduction to the Black Arts alongside the Wounded Kings. Another split, Reflection of the Negative, arrived in 2013 with Richmond-based doom peers Windhand, and the long-awaited third album Still They Pray finally appeared in 2016.
