Primitive Man

Denver, Colorado serves as home to Primitive Man, a sludge and doom metal trio from the United States whose output consists of oppressively grim and heavy sonic constructions that bring to mind Bell Witch, Dragged Into Sunlight, Graves at Sea, and Thou. The group formed in 2012 and includes Ethan Lee McCarthy, Jonathan Campos, and Joe Linden. Their first full-length, Scorn, appeared on Relapse Records in 2013. The aptly titled Caustic followed as their second album in 2017, again via Relapse. Immersion, their third full-length and the most anguished-sounding release to date, arrived in 2020.
