Oathbreaker

Oathbreaker emerged from Ghent in East Flanders, Belgium, as a female-fronted extreme metal ensemble that draws on an eclectic range of sources. Formed in 2008 by guitarist Lennart Bossu, bassist Gilles Demolder, drummer Ivo Debrabandere, and vocalist Caro Tanghe, the group fuses elements of screamo, post-punk, shoegaze, sludge, and black metal. A self-titled EP followed soon after their launch and received favorable attention. Deathwish Inc. subsequently signed the band and issued the debut full-length album Maelstrom in 2011. Their second studio release, Eros|Anteros, appeared in 2013, while the 2016 album Rheia earned widespread praise and coincided with the departure of Debrabandere and the arrival of Wim Coppers on drums.
