Yuni Shara entered the world on 3 June 1972 in Indonesia. Her domestic breakthrough occurred in 1995 through a pair of commercially oriented pop releases. Mengapa Tiada Maaf (Why Don’t You Apologise To Me?) appeared first, exceeding 150,000 copies sold and marking her as an emerging talent throughout the continent, its tracklist consisting chiefly of remixes drawn from Indonesian pop ballads after the regional norm. Return Of The Condor Hero followed in July, issued in tandem with the Cantonese kung-fu film of the same title that starred Andy Lau, and surpassed half a million units within six weeks. October brought her third album of the year, Seelum Kau Tergi (Before You Go), which sustained solid sales yet fell short of the commercial reach attained by its predecessor.
