Sheila On 7

Sheila on 7 came together in Yogyakarta, Indonesia during 1996 as a rock and pop ensemble whose roster shifted repeatedly across more than a decade of activity. The band secured a contract with major label Sony soon after its start, resulting in the 1999 appearance of their first album, Sheila on 7. Strong response to that self-titled release led to later recordings being issued in nearby markets, extending the group’s reach to countries including Malaysia and Singapore. Their initial Best Of collection arrived in 2005 and was followed a year later by the full-length 507. In 2007 the band’s catalog received a fresh presentation through the karaoke-oriented compilation Sheila on 7 Karaoke Hits, Vol. 1.
