Slank

Overcoming persistent lineup shifts and internal conflicts, Indonesia's Slank sustained a career spanning more than twenty-five years and produced over twenty albums. The band came together in Jakarta during 1983 with an original roster that included Kaka on vocals, Pay on guitars, Bongky Marcel on bass, Indra Qadarsih on keyboards, and Bimbim on drums. They performed for several years before obtaining a recording contract that yielded their debut release, Suit Suit...Hehehe, in 1991. Later albums arrived in steady succession and achieved strong sales, although repeated departures disrupted the group, some triggered by personal circumstances and others by disagreements over creative direction. Slank nevertheless moved past these setbacks, broadening their reach through worldwide tours and preserving substantial commercial appeal across the following two decades. Their twentieth album, Slow But Sure, appeared in 2007.
